Minnesota boat club junior rowing

For generations, the Minnesota Boat Club Junior Team has introduced young athletes to one of the most rewarding and demanding sports in the world: rowing.

Open to students ages 14–18, the Junior program welcomes athletes from across the Twin Cities who are eager to challenge themselves, build lifelong friendships, and become part of a proud rowing tradition on the Mississippi River.

The Minnesota Boat Club has developed junior rowers for decades, and our athletes have gone on to compete at the highest levels of the sport. Alumni of the program have raced at National Championships, World Championships, the Pan American Games, and even the Olympic Games. Many former juniors have continued rowing at colleges and universities across the country through the NCAA, IRA, and ACRA rowing programs.

For many students, rowing also opens doors academically. High school rowers frequently earn collegiate recruitment opportunities and scholarships, or use their rowing experience to strengthen their applications to highly competitive universities.
More than a sport
Rowing is one of the most complete athletic experiences available to young people.
It develops strength, endurance, discipline, and mental toughness, while teaching lessons that extend far beyond the water. Every athlete learns the value of teamwork, communication, accountability, and resilience—skills that benefit them throughout school, athletics, and life.

At Minnesota Boat Club, junior athletes are coached by a dedicated staff focused exclusively on youth development. Our coaches work closely with each athlete to support their growth as:
-

-

-

-
Leaders

Our program places a strong emphasis on technical excellence alongside fitness and racing performance. This makes rowing an outstanding addition for multi-sport athletes looking to build endurance, coordination, and competitive discipline that translates to success in other sports.

A Team That Builds Community
The Junior Team brings energy and vitality to the Minnesota Boat Club. Each new generation of rowers strengthens the club’s tradition while helping ensure the future of the sport in our community.

Whether an athlete dreams of racing at the collegiate level or simply wants to challenge themselves and be part of a supportive team, the Junior program offers a place to grow, compete, and discover the unique joy of rowing.
