What to Wear and Bring
Wear old tennis shoes or other stable footwear (no sandals or flip-flops).
Wear fitted shorts, like Spandex, because looser clothes can get stuck in the moving parts of the rowing machines and boats.
Bring a water bottle; you can fill it up at the boathouse.
How to Find Us
Don't rely on your GPS! Click here for good directions.
Each session of Taste of Rowing and Learn to Row will have 8 to 12 students. For the 2020 season, we are limiting class sizes to 6 people in order to accommodate social distancing amidst COVID-19.
Rowing is a weather-dependent sport, but classes will be held rain or shine, with as much time as possible spent in boats.
Because this is a team sport, we cannot offer make-up classes for individuals. Please choose a session that allows you to attend and participate in all the classes!
Boats come in different sizes. The boats we use for our rowing classes can accommodate rowers up to 240 lbs. The maximum width for each seat in the boat is 24", or about the width of an easy chair. Our equipment is not safe for anyone beyond those limitations.
There is a non-refundable, $10 deposit included in your registration. You can receive the remainder ($80 for Taste of Rowing; $215 for Learn to Row) back if you cancel your enrollment more than two weeks prior to your session. You will receive a 50% refund ($40 for Taste of Rowing; $112 for Learn to Row) if you cancel 8 to 14 days before the start of your session. No refund will be given if you cancel during the week before your session. Due to COVID-19, if you become ill or someone you're living with becomes ill, we will give a full refund (exempt from the $10 deposit). The cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before class.
It's also possible to have us coordinate a class specifically for your group of 8-12 people. Maybe your cycling group, book club or golf buddies would like to take a rowing class with you. We can try to have your class meet on 3 days and times that work the best for your group! Contact Kerry at LearnToRow@MinnesotaBoatClub.org to find out more about our custom classes.
